Improvisation with Nëya and Kameko

We’re happy to announce exciting weekend workshop by Nëya and Kameko from Prague (CZ).

We have had the opportunity to visit their workshops in EURIX and ShibariCamp and this year invited them over to Tallinn!
Now you also have the opportunity to experience their way of teaching and speaking through rope.

Improvisation in ropes is a completely different experience than repeating the patterns. Riggers love it because they don’t have to remember complex sequences of steps and knots. Models love it because they never know what will come next and therefore they can let go of expectations and fully enjoy an authentic session. Improvisational ties often bring a different mindset for both partners, due to the fluidity that creativity enables.

You can improvise in many ways; you can make new patterns, harnesses, knots, shapes and most importantly, new experiences. The sky’s the limit.

In this workshop you will learn how to improvise, what to take care of, how to ignite new ideas and how to find the confidence to try new things. In the first part we will try chaotic/unstructured improvisation which helps with deeper understanding of frictions and knots which is very useful in the long term.

The second part will be dedicated to structural improvisation that might not seem like improv at first but it helps you to understand how to adapt any structure that you might already know to any body type and shape especially in suspension.

We will start on the floor and slowly make our way in the air. All exercises will be scalable so everyone can tie on their level and explore at their own pace. Improvisation can be a whole session experience or just a nice touch to your already developed style.

Prerequisites for riggers: perfect single column tie, smooth rope handling, understanding frictions, safe and fast upline management

Prerequisites for models: knowing your body limits, good communication skills even during demanding suspensions, understanding difference between nerve compression and blood flow restricition.

You will need minimum 8 ropes, 7-8m long.

Note: this workshop is not designed for rope partners to switch between the exercises!

Nëya & Kameko

Both Nëya and Kameko are models as well as riggers from Prague, Czech republic. They have been tying together for more than 5 years now and they teach together all over Europe.

Nëya and Kameko are highly focused on exploring individuality and uniqueness of both riggers AND models and on rope bottoming topics. They are trying to teach practical ways to explore rope, body and mind, always tailoring content of the workshop to the group of students to make the best fit. Their own style is a wide range of technical as well as emotional approaches. They will tie seriously with a more traditional approach and many ropes as well as explore crazy minimalistic ideas on inappropriate music. The goal of Nëya and Kameko is to be truthful to themself and do what feels right at the moment.
